Geodata management (GIS) and drone services

With our modern GeoIT solutions and the latest GIS technology, we support you in your technical planning and project management. By using state-of-the-art drone technology, we capture your data on a daily up-to-date basis.

Our aim: simplify permitting processes, avoid delays and get your construction projects moving quickly.

The two building blocks in detail

  • Geodata management (GIS). Intelligent GeoIT solutions for complex projects: geodata infrastructures, GIS data models, automated validation routines, data quality management and a central geoportal with WebGIS.
  • Drone services. Modern drone technology for up-to-date information, in 2D or 3D, for planning, baseline documentation and monitoring.

Why the two belong together

Compensation is site-based work, and site-based work is data work. Every measure area has a geometry that everything else hangs on: the assessment in value points, the entry in the land register and compensation register, ownership and tenancy arrangements, construction time windows, management rounds and monitoring results over decades.

As long as this geometry comes only from old data or a one-off survey, it becomes outdated. Woody vegetation grows over, a water body shifts, a site is managed differently than agreed. Anyone who only notices this at a site visit with the authority loses time in the procedure. That is why we do not operate data capture and data management separately: the drone delivers the up-to-date condition, and the GIS feeds it into the same verified data set that the assessment and evidence also come from.

Typical use cases

  • Planning basis. A current orthophoto and a terrain model of the impact and compensation sites, before technical planning is built on outdated aerial photographs.
  • Evidence preservation before construction begins. The documented condition of a site before the first excavator bucket, in case impairments are disputed later.
  • Assessment basis. Precise site delineation and biotope-type classification as the basis for the assessment proposal to the lower nature conservation authority.
  • Monitoring over the commitment period. Repeat surveys at a set interval to provide traceable evidence of a measure area’s development.
  • One data set for all parties involved. The client, technical planning, executing contractor and authority see the same site with tiered access rights, instead of exchanging file versions by email.

What this means for your project

The practical benefit lies less in the technology than in the accountability. Both services come from the same organisation that also plans, implements and manages compensation over the commitment period. There is no handover between surveying, a GIS service provider and environmental planning at which data quality is lost, and no dispute over whose data set is authoritative.

How the geodata feeds into compensation planning is shown on the pages on compensation measures and project management.
