Die Nahe und ihre Nebenflüsse Glan, Simmerbach und Guldenbach sind als Fließgewässerlebensräume von europäischer Bedeutung.

Protected species in the Nahetal, Soonwald und Nordpfälzer Bergland
European wildcat
The large, low-disturbance forest areas of the Soonwald rank among the core habitat for European wildcat in Rheinland-Pfalz. Forest conversion with old and dead wood and habitat network between forest valleys are typical enhancement measures.
About this species ›Black stork
The black stork breeds in the quiet deciduous forests of the Soonwald and uses the naturally intact valley streams as foraging habitat. Restored watercourses and forest rest zones secure its habitat.
About this species ›Bats
Old and dead wood-rich stands in the Soonwald harbour Bechstein's bat, greater mouse-eared bat and further species. Cavity trees, winter roosts and structurally diverse hunting grounds are standard CEF measures.
About this species ›Kingfisher
At the Nahe, Glan and Guldenbach the kingfisher finds steep banks and fish-rich sections. Riverbank collapse zones, steep wall modelling and restoration of watercourse margins create new breeding sites.
About this species ›Sand lizard
The sun-exposed vineyard walls, steep banks and slopes in the Nahe valley offer the sand lizard ideal habitats. It is a frequently targeted species in infrastructure and settlement projects.
About this species ›Hazel dormouse
Structurally diverse forest edges, hedgerows and shrublands in the Hunsrück-Vorland and Nordpfälzer Bergland are habitat for hazel dormouse. Networked woody structures are effective compensation measures.
About this species ›Which projects trigger a compensation obligation?
Infrastructure & transport
Expansion and refurbishment of the B41 (Nahetalstraße), bypasses and maintenance and modernisation of the Nahetalbahn generate compensation and replacement obligations under §§ 13 to 15 BNatSchG and the LKompVO.
Wind power & solar energy
Wind farms on the heights of Soonwald and Nordpfälzer Bergland and open-area photovoltaic systems on Rheinhessian slopes require nature conservation compensation and species protection assessments.
Trade & industry
Mechanical engineering, optical and supply industries in Bad Kreuznach and industrial estate extensions across the district regularly trigger compensation requirements. greeNature solutions handles complete area and measure management.
Viticulture & land consolidation
Vineyard land consolidation in the Nahe steep slopes, winery extensions and settlement development in the Nahe wine region require compensation, which combines well with dry stone wall and calcareous grassland concepts.
